Thankful For This Crazy Messed Up Beautiful Life

Thanksgiving reminds us to be thankful for all that we have, all that we are, and all that we’ve been. It’s a time to think about what we want to do, and who we want to be tomorrow and forever.

It’s a time to reflect and to remember that every single person that you pass on the sidewalk has a story that will make you laugh. That they each have a story that will bring you to your knees with tears and grief, no matter what they look like.

Let’s remember that all riots and all wars have two sides. That each person involved believes, with complete conviction, that he is right. Even when we *know* that they are wrong.

Everybody feels. Just. Justified.

People wearing rags may have once ruled Wall Street. People dripping diamonds may be trying to figure out how to not lose their homes. Each is important and here. Each have colorful pasts and futures.

This Thanksgiving, please join me in remembering that WE ALL battle and celebrate. We battle and celebrate language, school, and the milestones met and unmet. We battle fears and hopes and celebrate dreams and achievements.

We dance for personal victories and feel small and huge in the same day.

Often, we battle and celebrate silently.

Please join me in remembering that we’re more alike than different.

Please join me in celebrating life, for what it is. It’s crazy gorgeous, incredibly messy, scary, unknown, and completely worth it.

Especially when we open our minds and our hearts. Especially when we forgive and accept. Especially when we know that there are always always ALWAYS more than the sides we see.

We’re flawed. We’re broken and gifted with the power to fix. To heal. To love. Let’s be thankful for the blessings that we can control, and for those that we cannot. Let’s be thankful for this crazy messed up beautiful and amazing life.

Lets be thankful for what we control and for what we cannot. Be thankful for this life.

  • My Inner Chick - **It’s crazy gorgeous, incredibly messy, scary, unknown, and completely worth it.**

Yep, that pretty much describes “Life.”

And when it’s been INCREDIBLY MESSY, this is when I learned the MOST!

    xx kiss from MN.November 30, 2014 – 4:29 pmReplyCancel

    • Kristi Campbell - xx from DC, MIC ak Kim. Yeah, completely worth it but sometimes? Holy crap does it get messy and scary and well all the rest…December 1, 2014 – 6:56 pmReplyCancel

  • Angel the Alien - I agree! I learned this when I was a kid because I was homeless for a while, and I was much younger than the other people at the homeless shelter. For some reason people used to tell their life stories to me and drop whatever persona they usually used. I remember this guy who was kind of scary looking, was in a gang and used drugs and stuff, but one day we were talking and he was telling me all about his daughter who had died when she was 6, and he was crying real tears. Everyone has multiple sides to them and everyone has something to teach!November 30, 2014 – 8:30 pmReplyCancel

    • Kristi Campbell - Oh Angel – I HATE that you were homeless but I LOVE that you experienced something so incredible there – the lesson that this scary guy, who uses drugs and stuff, was maybe like that because of the saddest story ever – losing a little kid…
Thanks so much for your awesome Angel Comment!December 1, 2014 – 6:57 pmReplyCancel

  • Robbie - Love these words of wisdom.November 30, 2014 – 9:44 pmReplyCancel

  • Chris Carter - *And she shouts from the rooftops* (Or from her seat wearing her PJ’s) AAAAAAAAAMEN!!!!!

It’s really amazing once you get to ‘*know*’ people… oh their stories!! Their battles!! Their VICTORIES!!!

This post is PERFECT in every on purpose way, my dear friend.

    LOVE it, and LOVE you!!!December 2, 2014 – 11:30 pmReplyCancel

    • Kristi Campbell - It’s so so true… knowing people, their battles, and victories is YES wow, so so much to take in at times. Hugs to you love!December 17, 2014 – 8:15 pmReplyCancel

  • Lynne - Yes let us be thankful for this crazy but beautiful life we live in. Wonderful post! Thanks for sharing!December 15, 2014 – 12:42 amReplyCancel
